Dawn Curtis

Dawn is a full time therapeutic yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) and certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with 25 years of yoga experience, with experience in private yoga sessions and group classes in Washington/Metro area, and is the proprietress of East Meets West Yoga Center.   Dawn’s therapeutic background and training of over 1000 hours includes Yoga of Recovery, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Yoga for Depression and Anxiety, Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors through Duke Integrative Medicine, Yoga of the Heart (Cardiac and Cancer) Therapeutic Yoga, and is a certified Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.

Since 2006, Dawn has taught yoga classes at area hospitals, workplaces, schools, and yoga studios.  As a certified, comprehensive yoga therapist and E-RYT 500 teacher, she facilitates both group and individual yoga therapy sessions, working with people dealing with a variety of conditions including drug addiction, cancer, digestive disorders, diabetes, eating disorders, stroke recovery, hypertension, mental health challenges (including depression, anxiety, grief and trauma), migrane headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, scoliosis, and sports injuries. She currently oversees the yoga for addictions program at Sagebrush Treatment Center (residential and outpatient), teaches and offers private sessions at Life With Cancer,  and teaches at Inova Kellar Center.

Dawn brings a compassionate and nurturing feel to her sessions, and creates and holds a safe space for clients to experience deep and profound awakenings.  Her intention is to become a catalyst for transformation and growth, and to help clients find their individual paths towards a healthy mind, body and spirit.
