Shannon Rooney came to yoga over a decade ago when seeking something beyond running in her active lifestyle. A dance background and love of movement instantly connected her to yoga. She found a sense of peace and strength when combining movement with the breath. She felt a need to share this passion with others and completed her 200-RYT from Yoga Works in 2008. Last summer, she finished her 500-hour teacher training at Beloved Yoga School. As she continued her yoga practice, she found that Pilates mat work created a perfect balance to help strengthen her body through the Pilates principles of breath, concentration and centering. She became Mat 1 & 2 certified through Balanced Body University. She loves the way that yoga and Pilates creates symmetry in the body and a strong connection with the core. Off the mat, she has been a Reading Specialist in the school system for nine years. This experience helps her bring clear instruction and a sense of playfulness into her classes. Her love of music will always play a role in motivating her students as well. Shannon’s goal is to empower and inspire students to connect with their strength, breath, and health through a sense of compassion for their own ability and the joy of movement.
