East Meets West Yoga Center

Sabrina Cohn

Originally from North Carolina, Sabrina moved to DC for graduate school many moons ago and never left. With advanced degrees in French Studies (The American University) and Public Health (Johns Hopkins), she had a very fulfilling career at The World Bank, working in West Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. She left The World Bank in 2006 to teach yoga, and to devote more time to family and other interests. In 2011, Sabrina fulfilled the requirements for her 500-hour teacher training through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, whose faculty included Amy Weintraub, Nischala Joy Devi, Marc Halpern, Neil Pearson, and Shar Lee. She is a long-time student of Max Strom: teacher, inspirational speaker, and author of A Life Worth Breathing and There is No App for Happiness. Others with whom she has studied and trained include Jamie Elmer, Judith Lasater, Doug Keller, Stephen Cope, Anne Cushman, and Sharon Salzberg. Off the mat, Sabrina enjoys taking dance classes at BalletNova, playing the piano, her volunteer work with Gin Dance and Helping Hearts Through the Arts, cooking, traveling, reading, and sitting on her screened porch!

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost." ~Martha Graham
