After years of being a devotee to step aerobics and strength training, Judy discovered Pilates and yoga, in that order. Judy has been teaching Pilates, yoga, and strength training since 2008. Judy received her 200-hour yoga certification from Yava Yoga in 2012 and have clocked in many hours of specialty courses in anatomy, pre-natal and post-natal, yoga for seniors, and yoga as therapy. Whether Judy is teaching a Vinyasa or Hatha style yoga class, her emphasis is doing yoga safely with proper alignment, coordinating the breath with movement, and finding core strength to create flexibility, stability, and balance. Judy’s Pilates certification is from Power Pilates, which bases it’s teacher-training program on the principles of control, precision, and flow developed by Joseph Pilates. Judy also holds personal training and group exercise certifications from AFAA. When not teaching or practicing, Judy is tethered to a computer, writing text for museum exhibitions and educational materials in science and history.
