East Meets West Yoga Center

Denyse LeFever

Denyse first discovered Yoga as a teen to alleviate stress and anxiety associated with taking standardized tests. She found both the gentle Hatha based practice and meditation to be helpful in easing her into adulthood. As she embarked on her over 30-year career in global business, she periodically returned to Yoga to maintain a sense of balance.

Approaching her senior years, Denyse decided to take her casual interest in Yoga to a more professional in-depth study and focus. She finished her teacher training at East Meets West in 2011. This was just the beginning of her studies! In 2017, she became a Certified Yoga Therapist.

Additional specialty certifications include:

Integrated Yoga Therapy Teacher Certification from Joan and Jim Ryan
Relax and Renew, Restorative Teacher Certification from Judith Hanson Lasater
Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors, Duke University Integrative Medicine – Primary instructors Carol Krucoff and Kimberly Carsen (with adjunct professors from Duke Medical School)
Yoga of the Heart Certification for Cardiac and Cancer from Nischala Joy Devi

Denyse brings light heartedness to her classes. If the class is willing, she may even infuse the session with the scent of lavender!

"To be calm, to be serene! There is the calmness of the lake when there is not a breath of wind. . . . So it is with us. Sometimes we are clarified and calmed healthily, as we never were before in our lives, … so that we become like a still lake of purest crystal and without an effort our depths are revealed to ourselves." ~Henry David Thoreau
