East Meets West Yoga Center

Cathy Trenary

Cathy has always had a passion for all things relating to the mind, body and spirit. She believes that happiness is our natural birthright and that yoga can act as a vehicle to this state of mind. Cathy caught the yoga bug in her teen years and completed her first teacher training at a Baptiste affiliate studio in 2014. Prior to that, she received her 600 hour comprehensive Pilates certification so you can expect core work infused in the practice. Most recently Cathy completed her 300 hour in Ayurveda and loves to incorporate the 5 elements throughout various poses in the classes. Her classes are challenging and fun. She offers various modifications and applications. You can expect a lot of cuing on breath (as she believes this is the foundation of the practice), alignment, and hands-on assists.

Apart from yoga, Cathy holds an M.ED in Counseling and Development from George Mason University and has experience working as a Mental Health Counselor and as a Stress-Management Professor at George Washington University. She enjoys teaching Mindfulness Meditation workshops in the DC area. Having completed an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program from Georgetown University Hospital and a 10 day Vipassana silent retreat, she stays grounded through her daily meditation practice. Her sense of curiosity leads her to continue learning and growing. Cathy feels at her best when she is empowering others to be the best versions of themselves and recognize their inner strength. To connect, follow her on Instagram @cathytrenary
